The Mentorship Program connects mock trial competitors with experienced alumni and Judicial Officers who can provide them with guidance and feedback leading up to State Conference. While its primary focus is on improving each team’s performance, it also encourages collaboration and helps build a more connected OKYAG mock trial community.
Prospective mentees and mentors will be able to register for the program at the end of the fall–winter semester. Specific dates will be posted on the OKYAG Band and the OKYAG Mock Trial Instagram and are listed below. After registration closes, mentee teams will be placed into “mentorship groups” of 3-4 teams with their assigned mentors, which they’ll stay in until State Conference.
Your mentors will review your team's case and give you constructive feedback to help you strengthen your materials.
Your mentors will answer your team's questions about the Rules of Evidence, courtroom procedure, and legal concepts.
Your mentors will help your team coordinate scrimmages with other teams in the Mentorship Program to practice before State Conference.
To join the mentorship program, mentees must register by team rather than individually. To register, a team captain (or any team member who can serve as the team’s primary point of contact) can register on behalf of their team. After registration closes, teams will be placed into “mentorship groups” with their assigned mentors.
